On December 5, the first part of one of the largest wine collections in the world will be auctioned at Sotheby’s. Under the title "Limitless – The Colossal Cellar of an Astute Collector," nearly 70,000 bottles will be sold in New York and Hong Kong over the next twelve months. The collection of the anonymous seller was assembled over decades. According to Richard Young, head of wine auctions at Sotheby’s, "Visits to Châteaux and Domaines, as well as building close relationships with key figures in the wine world, played an important role, leading to an extraordinary collection of the most sought-after wines worldwide.".

The auction will feature Burgundies from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Rousseau, Bruno Clair, Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine des Lambrays, de Montille, Dujac, Faiveley, Fourrier, Jean Grivot, Méo-Camuzet, Marquis d’Angerville, Sylvain Cathiard, Robert Chevillon, Roumier, and Joseph Drouhin. The Bordeaux collection includes the most famous and sought-after wines from the left and right banks from top vintages. Additionally, wines from Ornellaia, Solaia, Sassicaia, and Napa Valley will be auctioned.

The North American collector states in a statement: "Each bottle tells stories of vineyard visits, deep friendships with winemakers, and the pursuit of excellence that transcends time and space. It is an honor for me to provide insight into a journey shaped by a love for fine wine and the people who make it."
