The international solidarity auction "Barolo en primeur" will take place on 28 October at the Castle of Grinzane Cavour in Piedmont. The charitable project is being organised for the second time by the two foundations Fondazione CRC and Fondazione CRC Donare and the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani. Christie's auction house in New York will auction 14 of the 15 barriques from the 2021 vintage in a live stream, while the fifteenth barrique will go under the hammer at the World White Truffle Auction in Alba. Each barrique supports a social project.

In addition, 1,200 bottles of Barolo from the 2021 vintage will be auctioned this year, which were donated to the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani by a total of 70 vintners. This way, the project "Barolo en primeur" will be made accessible to a broader public, Matteo Ascheri, president of the consortium, emphasised.

All bottles of the barriques will leave the cellars with a special label designed by the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto after the maturing period prescribed for Barolo in 2025. Each barrique will also be accompanied by an NFT (Non Fungible Token), a digital certificate of authenticity.
