Almost 3,000 visitors came to the WineTour of the German Wine Institute (DWI) in Hamburg with the three wine sovereignties last weekend. In addition, around 1,800 registered guests visited the online tastings, and all but a few of the complementary wine packages were sold out. The "WineWalks" hosted by the royalty were also fully booked throughout.

The DWI had organised the event with hygiene and distance rules to protect guests and participants from covid infection. For example, two time slots per day were introduced to control visitors.

"Young people in particular are showing much more interest in German wines. High-quality visitors, interesting conversations and orders are the result," one of the exhibiting vintners was pleased to say, "orders from the Hamburg area had declined noticeably without the WeinTour."

The event is to be held again in 2023.
