According to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in Berlin, the damage to wine-growing enterprises after the Ahr flood is now estimated at a total of about 110 million euros. In the case of the winegrowers' cooperatives, the figure is about 50 million euros. Of the more than 50 wineries on the Ahr, only four remained intact, Peter Kriechel, chairman of the Ahrwein association, told Deutschlandfunk radio, all the others were damaged. Ten to 20 wineries have been completely destroyed, many winegrowers have lost everything.

According to information from the ministry, the flood disaster destroyed almost ten percent of the vineyard area in the wine-growing region, especially in the locations near the river. On about 50 hectares, all the vines had fallen victim to the water masses.
