The AOC Bordeaux winegrowers' association wants to drastically reduce the 2020 harvest due to the reduced demand caused by the Corona pandemic. A few days ago, the Fédération des Grands Vins de Bordeaux (FGVB) decided to reduce the harvest for AOC wines from 54 to 50 hl per ha. The additional "individual reserve" will be reduced from eleven to six hl per hectare. The harvest of Bordeaux supérieur will be 65 hl per ha in 2020 instead of 60 hl per ha. Rosé and Clairet are also harvested less in this quantity.

In addition, the "marketing reserve" is to be significantly smaller. Therefore, the companies must also agree to a reduction in the quantity of their AOC-classified wines. Accordingly, ten percent of them will be downgraded to Vin de France.
