Andreas Engelmann (in the picture) is the new estate manager of the Wegeler wineries (Mosel). The winemaker, born in the Mosel region, took over the management from Norbert Breit on February 15, 2026, who has retired after more than 30 years at the winery.
Breit had been working as cellar master and manager of the Wegeler wineries in the Mosel since 1993. During this time, he significantly shaped the qualitative development of the estate and sustainably established the high quality standards.
With Andreas Engelmann, a prominent winemaker now takes on the responsibility. Since the founding of Schlossgut Ebringen (Baden) in 2003, he has been responsible for its stylistic development and has led the winery to become one of the top operations in Germany. His work is characterized by a focus on terroir, sustainable management, careful selection of grape varieties, and meticulous cellar work.
The Wegeler wineries consist of the Rheingau main house in Oestrich-Winkel ****, the manor house in Bernkastel ****, the winery Krone Assmannshausen*** (Rheingau) with its Pinot Noirs, as well as the Geheimrat-J sparkling wine cellar.
