Record theft at Masi

Image header

The renowned wine company Masi, based in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, has become a victim of theft. 9,000 bottles of Amarone Costasera worth 315,000 euro were stolen from a warehouse in Oppeano near Verona. The bottles were from the 2017 and 2018 vintages. The perpetrators broke into the building and stole 1,500 crates with six bottles each, Italian media report. The Amarone Costasera is Masi's flagship wine and was recently the focus of the anniversary celebrations for the company's 250th birthday. It is one of the most sought-after Amarone wines worldwide. In the past few months, there have been repeated targeted drops, especially in top European restaurants.
