California is currently experiencing unprecedented demand for luxury wine tastings. The daily newspaper "San Francisco Chronicle" reports that the most expensive offers for 500 dollars or more per person are selling out at record speed. "The requests are bigger than ever before. I haven't seen a rush like this in years," Tim Martin, provider of luxury wine events, told the newspaper. His tastings of four Californian top wines for 550 dollars per person were booked out in no time. According to the Chronicle, luxury events with tours, tastings and dinners with a private chef, which are offered for about 13,000 euro, are also in great demand. In addition, there were 2,000 euros for the tastings.

The San Francisco Chronicle writes that the reasons for this trend, which came as a complete surprise to Californian vintners, are the desire for social distancing and people's longing for unique experiences as a result of the Covid lockdown.
