The study published three years ago in the renowned British journal Lancet, which aimed to prove that there is "no safe level of alcohol consumption" for health, has proven to be flawed. It also contradicts much scientific evidence that moderate alcohol consumption can specifically protect against cardiovascular disease, reports the British "London Times".

The daily reports on a new study by scientists Sir Nicholas Wald of University College London and Chris Frost of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In their paper on the Lancet study, they demonstrate errors in data analysis. In it, co-author Nicholas Wald emphasises: "You don't have to feel that the only safe alcohol consumption is zero" and concludes: "A glass of wine with dinner is fine after all".
