The total turnover of this year's charity auction of the Hospices de Nuits-St-Georges winery amounts to 3.6 million euros. According to the organisers, the result is a new record and is 45 percent higher than last year's event. The 2022 Burgundy vintage, which was described as promising in terms of both quantity and quality, also contributed to this.

The 2022 harvest had been more generous than in previous years and had made it possible to auction 160 barrels from 19 different cuvées. At last year's auction, which also achieved record sales and focused on the smaller 2021 vintage, only 109 barrels were auctioned. This year, 18 of the 19 cuvées offered were red wines. The average price per red wine cuvée was 22,318 euros, down 0.7 per cent from the 2022 auction.

Among the highlights was the Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Les Saint Georges 'Cuvée Georges Faiveley', which fetched 55,000 euros. A newly offered cuvée, the Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Les Saint Georges 'Vieilles Vignes' Cuvée Hugues Perdrizet, achieved a price of 40,000 euros. It was pressed from the oldest vines of the estate and is a tribute to the first donor of vineyards to the hospice.

The auction took place at Château du Clos de Vougeot and was led by auctioneer Hugues Cortot.
