Two premieres will take place at the Mainz Cultural Centre on 22 April: For the first time, the Association of Traditional Sparkling Wine Makers will present itself at the 1st German Sparkling Wine Exchange and introduce the first sparkling wines in the new top category "Sparkling Wine Makers Reserve". The event is part of the bottle show organised by the Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen winegrowers' association. A total of around 600 wines and sparkling wines from 123 sparkling wine and winemakers can be tasted on this day. 41 sparkling wine producers will be on site.
The members of the Association of Traditional Sparkling Wine Makers exclusively sparkle regional grapes according to the traditional method. Among other things, the "Sektmacher Reserve" sparkling wines must be hand-picked, have a maximum whole-cluster pressing yield of 50 per cent and a minimum yeast storage period of 36 months. They will be presented by President Volker Raumland**** to the press and trade visitors and will be open to the public for tasting from 4 pm.
