19 bottles of wine from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti were stolen from the Milan restaurant Affinatore. According to the magazine Winespectator, two individuals disguised as construction workers, wearing vests and helmets, smashed the restaurant's glass door with metal rods on a Saturday morning. They then used the same tool to destroy the display case where the wine bottles were stored. They took nine bottles of La Tâche, four bottles of Romanée-Conti, and three bottles each of Richebourg and Romanée-St.-Vivant from the vintages 2014 to 2022. The value of the bottles amounts to around 280,000 Euros.
The police believe that the thieves had scouted the restaurant and the wine cellar during previous visits, as they specifically targeted the Romanée-Conti collection. They left the Masseto bottles above untouched (see image).
The wines were insured at wholesale prices, which are significantly lower than the retail value. The restaurant Affinatore, which has over 3,600 items on its wine list and more than 32,000 bottles in stock, published the serial numbers of the stolen bottles: 18766, 04714, 04667, 06338, 06401, 03524, 01855, 6569, 06610, 03935, 02002, 3675, 00957, 01769, 01950, 02036, 04701, 03438, 06090.
