The Italian police seized 10,000 bottles of Prosecco labelled as champagne. As part of the "Bad Drink" operation, the police as well as members of the Italian anti-fraud unit ICQRF had searched several warehouses in the region a few days ago. As the Italian daily La Tribuna di Treviso reported, the police had also found "large quantities of disinfectants and denatured alcohol used for the production of alcoholic beverages".

Investigators had also seized more than 9,000 bottles of liquor, 2,800 litres of alcohol as well as packaging. In addition, 900 bottles of sunflower oil had been treated with dyes. They were to be sold as extra virgin olive oil. A large quantity of fake labels and 300,000 fake official seals had also been seized.
