Which wine goes with pizza?
The choice of a wine to accompany pizza depends on what the pizza is topped with. As varied as the topping options are, so are the options for the accompanying wine.
Basically, a rather uncomplicated, not too heavy dry red wine always goes well with pizza, preferably - like the pizza itself - from Italy, for example a Barbera or Merlot, also as a cuvée partner(Rosso). If the pizza is topped with particularly spicy ingredients such as spicy salami, lots of garlic, herbs, onions, bacon and/or beef, the red wine may also be stronger; then a Primitivo or a Sangiovese cuvée is suitable, for example.
Pizza with vegetables or seafood or Pizza Hawaii also goes well with a dry white wine that should not be too low in body, such as a Pinot Grigio, Vermentino or Verdicchio.
