Which wine goes with lamb?
Lamb is characterised by a strong, spicy flavour of its own. Accordingly, the accompanying wine must also have a lot of power and aromatic strength. Dry red wines from southern France(Rhône, Bordeaux, Languedoc-Roussillon, Sud-Ouest), Italy(Piedmont, Tuscany, Apulia, Sicily, Sardinia), Spain or Portugal as well as Greece or overseas(South Africa, USA, Australia, New Zealand) are recommended. Grape varieties that are suitable are, for example, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah (Shiraz), Grenache Noir(Garnacha, Cannonau), Carignan, Monastrell (Mourvèdre), Malbec, Carmenère, Tempranillo, Primitivo (Zinfandel), Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Xinomavro or Agiorgitiko. The wines should be well matured.
