2015 is considered an exceptional year in South Tyrol, and the white wines we have been
able to taste so far justify the good mood. They are generally ripe and juicy and, even with high alcohol levels, seem fresh, lively and animating - a balance that is not always easy to achieve in South Tyrol.
We can look forward to seeing how the prestige wines will present themselves, most of which will not be released until later in the year (or even later). From the class of their currently tasted counterparts from 2014, one can see how well the best wineries can handle even difficult years. Overall, the pleasing trend towards more individual wines with strong character continues - also from less common or well-known varieties, including, among others, fungus-resistant ones of astonishing quality.
