From the beginning, wine lovers as well as experts did not quite agree about the 2016 vintage. From unrestrained enthusiasm to complete rejection, one could experience everything in reactions. Indeed, the range of qualities is as large as rarely.
General judgments about a vintage are generally quite difficult or even nonsensical, but in this case they are completely impossible. Without a doubt, the year holds some disappointments, some wines are simply not as good as in the best years, but they are still very good. At the same time, however, we have tasted some of the greatest dry Rieslings we have come across so far. The best wines of the vintage combine expressiveness with elegance and finesse in a way that we have hardly experienced even in the best vintages of the past decades.
