Around 100 wines were presented to us for this BEST OF, most of them from 2009.

The vintage was given a lot of advance praise, but the wines did not always live up to expectations. The extremely hot and dry summer resulted in high sugar levels, but the tannins often remained hard. Many wines therefore appear overripe on the one hand, with compote-like, partly dried fruit, but also a little rough and brittle on the other. The best ones, however, are juicy, dense and compact, a few even surprise with coolness and elegance, but they all need a lot of air to show what they are made of. A little maturity in the bottle will do them good, but you should rarely expect them to keep for too long. It is better to start drinking in 3 years than in 10.
