The selection of samples at this year's Carnuntum tasting was a bit meagre with just under 50 wines this year, because unfortunately some important wineries did not present their wines to us. So there is not enough for a real BEST OF, which is a bit of a pity, especially in view of the very pleasing 2015 red wine vintage.
Because what we tasted this year, especially of the 15 reds, is really something to be proud of. In many wines, the year is characterised not only by substance and expressiveness, but also by a freshness and precision that we sometimes missed in the past.
Even the basic wines often already have a certain class, so that in Carnuntum one can currently stock up on excellent red wines for relatively little money, also in view of the generally consumer-friendly prices.
